London, Thanasis Gavos

Offered her condolences for the deaths of Greek expatriates in Ukraine to the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendia the British counterpart of Liz Trace during their afternoon meeting at the Foreign Office.

According to a Twitter post, they agreed to urge the two countries ‘partners to hold Russia accountable, as Britain and Greece “are united in condemning Putin’ s barbaric invasion of Ukraine and in isolating Russia on the international stage.”

The two ministers discussed developments in Ukraine and the coordination of Western countries to deal with the Russian invasion, as well as issues of bilateral cooperation.

They also referred to the Western Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean, with Mr Dendias thanking Ms Tras for a recent statement by a Foreign Office spokesman that Britain “does not consider the sovereignty of the Greek islands to be called into question”.

This was a statement in a question from SKAI about the British position on Tsavousoglou’s statements about the demilitarization of the Greek islands.
