Vangelis Meimarakis asks, among other things, the European Commission about “how the EU intends to support countries such as Greece and Cyprus
Question to the European Commission and the competent Commissioner for Migration, on the occasion of “the recent increase in refugee and immigrant flows in the host countries of the EU and in particular in Greece”, submitted the MEP and pr. ND president, Vangelis Meimarakis.
In his question, he underlines that “the intense military escalation in the Middle East centered on Lebanon, as well as the possibility of an extensive war in the region, has led to an increase in refugee flows, with the result that host countries must receive immediate responses from the (European) Commission, regarding European policies to deal with the problem”, as stated in a related announcement.
Therefore, Mr. Meimarakis asks the European Commission on “how the EU intends to support countries, such as Greece and Cyprus, in an imminent mass refugee flow due to the events in the Middle East”, on whether “there will be a renegotiation regarding the EU-Turkey Joint Declaration on Refugees” and whether “the EU has a mechanism to send humanitarian aid to host countries, such as Greece, especially in cases of massive waves of casualties”.
