Even for the approximately 900 polling stations, the decision to set them up will play an important role in PASOK’s electoral battle

They measure reactions, participation in gatherings and regions where PASOK candidates are strongest.
Even for the approximately 900 polling stations, the decision to set them up will play an important role.
This is why the Ethics Committee had a hard time coming to a conclusion as the “battle” next Sunday will be “hand-to-hand”.
A basic conclusion emerges from the polls: the differences of the first four (Nikos Androulakis, Haris Doukas, Annas Diamantopoulos, Pavlos Geroulanos) are not impossible to overturn. What the staffs of the “six” don’t forget is that on October 6, not just one wins, but two. A week later the game will be open again.
At the end of 2015, in New Democracy, Evangelos Meimarakis was 11 points ahead of Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the first round, with the prime minister winning the presidency of the blue faction in the second ballots.
The interest seems to be increased and everything will be decided by the people who will come to the polls. In the European elections, PASOK was supported by more than half a million voters.
Did they vote for the historical party that represents the center area in Greece or Nikos Androulakis? This will be seen at the ballot box. The other five are trying to get a big chunk of those voters, but mostly to “repatriate” people who didn’t believe in or support the incumbent in 2021. An electorate of more than 350,000 (270,000 had voted in the previous intra-party polls) will mean a significant change of the “mix” and nothing can be ruled out. These are voters who left PASOK and went to SYRIZA, supporters of Harilaou Trikoupis who “turned” to the right towards New Democracy in 2019, but also disappointed centrist citizens who still prefer abstinence.
The battles that will be fought are many and critical. Among them, Attica, Athens and Crete are three very important areas. Due to population in the first two and due to the increase in the party’s forces in the third, much will be decided on the final result.
Nineteen polling stations will be set up for expatriates with the polls opening at seven in the morning and closing after 12 hours.
As is the case in any intra-party battle, it is considered very likely that extensions will be granted where delays or queues have occurred.
Greek citizens and foreigners who live permanently in Greece, aged 16 and over, have the right to vote.
Identification will be done by showing the police ID, passport or a new type of diploma. The fee for participating in the process was set at 3 euros and only applies to the first round.
