In SYRIZA, whoever endures will remain in the party. This is shown by the latest events with the situation being dynamic and the upheavals continuous.

The “good day from the morning can be seen” and when it became known yesterday the extraordinary convocation of the Political Secretariat to change the date of the conference, the tension that followed was not surprising.

The official reason may have been the search for a large hall, however, many thought that the new majority is trying to lead Kasselakis to the nomination without knowing the balances that will be formed in the highest governing body.

According to the previous deadlines, the election of delegates would take place on October 19-20 and the date for someone to register for the election race would be October 24. Now the congressional election has been postponed to November 2-3 and the congress 8-10 of the next month.

The situation at yesterday’s meeting of the Central Committee smelled of “gunpowder” and the thermometer rose even more than the meeting of the removal of Stefanos Kasselakis a month before.

The pressure that the former president of SYRIZA is under is very great.

What he said in his last video would not go down like that.

The “component of entanglement” he mentioned about SYRIZA triggered many reactions with the “87” meeting until late on Friday night, according to information.

Former MP Themis Moumoulidis sent him to the Ethics Committee with the question of deletion. A little later, an amendment was submitted by Thanasis Theocharopoulos, Kostas Zachariadis and Yiannis Boulekos in order to be included in the decision of the Central Committee of SYRIZA which was accepted. “The draft policy decision is a text that is both politically and programmatically forward-looking.

Unfortunately, he does not support it as it seems former president Stefanos Kasselakis based on what he supported in the video yesterday (for a progressive space, entanglement, etc.)”, said Thanasis Theocharopoulos during his placement in the Central Committee of SYRIZA. The amendment stated the following: “The cooperation of the progressive forces is a unanimous collective decision of both the 4th Congress and the K.E.” of our party. The specific decisions are not a product of entanglement but a request of the progressive and leftist forces of the country. Insulting reports against executives, members and the party itself for allegedly serving the plans of the entanglement are not acceptable and injure the unity of the party.”

Finally, the side of Stefanos Kasselakis once again withdrew from the instruments. They denounce strategies on the part of “87” with the party being split in two.

With a reflex move, Theodora Tzakri submitted the required signatures (87 in total), but also the whereabouts of Stefanos Kasselakis. What did they want to show? That everything that was heard that the former head of Koumundourou is waiting to see the movements of his opponents, or that he has a problem with his statement was in the realm of imagination. Sources from his entourage reported late last night: “no matter what they plan, no matter what their supporters plan yesterday, no obstacle will stop Stefanos Kasselakis. His candidacy for the presidency of SYRIZA is moving forward, because party members and society are hungry for change and renewal. No matter how many obstacles they put up, the desire for a modern SYRIZA is stronger.”

The fierce opposition of the two sides and the fact that “cohabitation” is impossible was captured by the positions of Olga Gerovasilis and Theodora Tzakris. The secretary of the parliamentary group accused the “87” saying: “you are the worst version of a small and helpless left that was lifted by the people and brought to power in 2015. You are destroying the legacy of Alexis Tsipras and not Stefanos Kasselakis ».

The answer came from Olga Gerovasilis: “there are no presidential candidates by representatives… anyone who does not respect the democratic decisions of the majority is not talking about SYRIZA but about another party. I ask Theodora Tzakri to retract the insulting and insulting words she uttered from this stage at the expense of comrades and comrades”.

In addition, the amendment tabled by Dimitris Chatzisokratis to disconnect the election of a new Central Committee from the election of the President was passed. The election for the new K.E. it will take place on January 19, 2025

Nikolas Farandouris submitted his candidacy, accompanied by 34 signatures of members of the Central Committee and his credentials. Mr. Farandouris presented a rough outline of a 10-point program that is also his political proposal, from demographics to the operation of the market and from labor and collective labor contracts to contemporary challenges in the international and European arena.

Apostolos Gletsos also announced his candidacy, declaring on the sidelines of the meeting that he has collected 32 signatures.
