The 950 polling stations for the internal party voting for the election of a new PASOK leadership were opened at 7 am.

The polls are scheduled to close at 7 p.m., unless the relevant party committee (EDEKAP) decides to grant an extension, if it is established that there is still a significant turnout of voters, especially in the large electoral centers of Attica and Thessaloniki.

Party members have the right to vote, and in addition, those over 16 who wish to do so by declaring, at whichever polling station they go, that they want to register either as members or as friends and to sign a responsible declaration that they are not members of another party.

All voters will pay as against the amount of 3 euros.

They should have a police ID or passport or any other public document (eg driver’s license) with them for identification.

The ballot is public in alphabetical order of the candidates: Nikos Androulakis, Pavlos Geroulanos, Nadia Giannakopoulou, Anna Diamantopoulou, Haris Doukas and Michalis Katrinis and a preference cross is entered.

In order to elect a new president, he needs to gather 50+1 of the votes, and if he does not succeed, then the first two will face off in the second round next Sunday, October 13.

The results are expected after 9 pm.
