“There is no bargain – the need is for us all to be together tomorrow” said Nikos Androulakis – The dilemma posed by Haris Doukas
Nikos Androulakis and Haris Doukas appear ready and optimistic for victory, while “the hourglass is counting down” for the October 13. The response of the president of PASOK to the proposal of the mayor of Athens for the telebattle on ERT before the second round of internal party elections was positive, with some considering that it could be an unexpected “sieging ram” that will bring victory by “demolishing” strongholds of the opponent in various areas.
The partners of the two men will meet for the agreement regarding the day and the format in which the telefight will be held, while proposals have already been submitted on both sides. The first round of question-and-answer debate between the candidates is considered a success, but it is believed that there will be changes.
The “camp” of Nikos Androulakis proposed that the telefight take place on Wednesday, a day when the municipal council of Athens meets under the chairmanship of Haris Doukas. Haris Doukas reportedly opposes the holding of a teleconference on Friday.
Speaking to Mega, the leader of PASOK made an “opening” to his co-candidates, stressing that if he is re-elected will be utilized all taking critical roles.
“There is no bargain – the need is for us all to be together tomorrow”, clarified Mr. Androulakis.
He spoke of PASOK’s upward trajectory which will continue steadily, but clarified that he is ready to proceed with the “necessary changes and corrections” after the second round.
For his part, Mr. Doukas considers that the overthrow is possible, despite the lower than expected percentages in Athens and more broadly in Attica, as he can attract a large percentage of the 70% of voters who chose candidates other than Mr. Androulakis, simultaneously improving his image in Attica and Athens. The dilemma posed by the Duke “camp” is “one of the same, or a change of leadership for recovery and a new winning streak.” It is also recalled that Mr. Doukas was the outsider in the telefight of the municipal elections against Kostas Bakoyannis, but in the end he prevailed thanks to the debate.
According to the results of the first round of elections for the leadership of PASOK, they received:
Nikos Androulakis: 29.64% and 89,200 votes
Harry Doukas: 21.41 % and 64,490 votes
Pavlos Geroulanos will have a meeting on Tuesday at 11.30 with Nikos Androulakis at the PASOK president’s office in the Parliament and with Haris Doukas at 1 also in the Parliament.
PASOK’s analyst predicts “a difficult battle” for the second round of PASOK Pulse, George Arapoglouwho, commenting on Sunday’s election result, estimated that “in all probability it came from PASOK voters. It did not decisively influence any other group of voters. They were mainly PASOK voters, and even voters who had voted for PASOK in the previous elections. Those who had voted for PASOK in June 2023 and possibly other times determined the result. It seems that they were mobilized to a greater extent than in the previous internal party elections, without excluding of course that there were other voters, but the result was determined, it was influenced by the voters of PASOK”.
He also estimated that the lead Androulakis is something that “of course can change. The second round is a new battle. The pre-election survey showed that the battle between the two will be a difficult one. It seems to favor Mr. Androulakis to an extent. Every election battle is different. An election result always affects the mood of the voters.”
