Migrants escaped through a hole in the ceiling of a holding room at Madrid International Airport with the Foreign Office saying it will now take action
Six Moroccan migrants escaped through a hole in the ceiling of the room where they were being held at Madrid’s international airport in Spain, a week after an identical escape baffled Spanish authorities.
The police managed to locate the three fugitives, but the other three remain at large, the Ministry of the Interior announced.
Last week four Moroccans escaped in the same way. There are three rooms at the airport to accommodate people who have requested international protection or who have not been allowed to enter Spain. These rooms are under the Ministry of the Interior.
“The escape took place through the same hole from which four other migrants escaped last week,” police union Jupol said, calling for urgent measures to boost security.
The ministry said it was “investigating” how the migrants escaped and promised to take measures to stop the escapes.
