From the complaints, the conflicts and the “bra de fer” between SYRIZA and Kasselaki, one thing becomes clear: that the split of Koumoundourou is inevitable
By Antonis Anzoletou
Nothing can be predicted in SYRIZA for the conference proceedings of the party, as the developments in Koumoundourou are not linear. Less than a month to go until the conference which, neither side may admit, is up in the air. THE Stefanos Kasselakis started yesterday to rally his own people by asking those who support him to register with the member organizations in order to elect delegates.
Tours will follow in Attica and the region in the following days. The timetable for the work of the apex governing body has not changed. It is expected to be held from November 8-10, although many fear that what happened in the Central Committee was a harbinger of “bad omens” for the party. And if in K.E. found only 151 people in the basement of the main conference hotel, in a body of 5,000 delegates, things can get out of hand.
During the meeting, a member of the “Kasselista” is expected, unless the former president of SYRIZA takes the floor from the start, to request the revocation of the disqualification decision as well as the “block” in the nomination placed by the Central Committee. This will be the point where the conference will catch fire, as well the “87” side makes two things clear:
– The decision of the Central Committee for its approval of his candidacy is irrevocable
– The conference has the sole role of approving existing nominations
From complaints, conflicts and yesterday “bra de fer” between SYRIZA and Stefanos Kasselakis one thing becomes clear: that the split of Koumoundourou is inevitable. In the decision, after all, the Central Committee mentions the former president of SYRIZA by name: “those, like Stefanos Kasselakis, do not respect the decisions of the collective bodies, such as for example the recent ones with the removal of confidence in the person of the president and the his dismissal from the position of president, they spew slanders against their party and go as far as taking legal action against the collective bodies of the party, they cannot be candidates for president”.
Now for SYRIZA, the situation will become even more difficult, as it will not have a PASOK in front of it that will not be on the move. There is a leader in Harilaou Trikoupi and he will now focus on his opposition work. Changes in the presidium of the SYRIZA parliamentary group, despite the suggestions that have allegedly been made, do not seem to be in the cards, as it is estimated that with such a move the tension in the party would also be transferred to the Parliament.
