The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met on the sidelines of the first EU-GCC Summit with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salmanwith the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thaniwith the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah and with Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for International Affairs, Sheikh Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik.
During the meetings the Prime Minister underlined the importance of promoting EU-GCC relations, especially at this time of major regional challenges.
Regarding the developments in the Middle East, Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized the need to de-escalate and avoid conflagration in the wider region and repeated his call for an immediate ceasefire and self-restraint.
During the meetings, the prospects for strengthening economic cooperation and the investment opportunities that open up in Greece were also discussed, with an emphasis on the position of our country, which makes it a commercial and energy hub, and a gateway to Europe.
