The founding conference of the New Left which starts today may not be held in the environment that its founding members would have liked, since the goal of electing a member of the European Parliament was not achieved, however, unlike in Koumoundourou, in Patision they can talk about a comprehensive policy production process.

More than 200 assemblies were held in Greece in an effort to highlight the identity of the Left in the new social and political conditions.

The 1,400 delegates during the four-day work at the SEF will be asked to confirm the support they provide to the party president Alexis Haritsi and highlight the party’s Central Committee. The Secretary and the Political Secretariat will then be elected from it. The proceedings will open with the introduction of Alexis Haritsis, the installation of the Palestinian ambassador and will be followed by the greetings of the parties that have been invited (ND, SYRIZA, PASOK, KKE, Pleussi Eleftherias, MeRA25, Kosmos).

In the New Left, they believe that SYRIZA has been out of politics for the last year. They conjure up comeback scenarios in any case and this is expected to be reflected in the conference.

They believe that both those who supported Stefanos Kasselakis and those who opposed him have great responsibilities. They want to achieve a restart and end the era when the parliamentary group of “11” was perceived as the split of SYRIZA.

This, after all, the “unrecognizability” of the party and the title of “former”, seems to be the big problem that cost the recent European elections.

The MPs will give the mark of the party Efi Ahtsioglou, Euclid Tsakalotos, Nasos Iliopoulos, Dimitris Tzanakopoulos, Theano Fotiou, Anagnostopoulou Co, Meropi Tzoufi, Peti Perka, Hussein Zeibek, Ozgur Ferhatthe political planner Gabriel Sakellaridisbut also the historical and leading executives Nikos Voutsis, Nikos Philis, Panos Skourletis, Dimitris Vitsas, George Stathakis, Nikos Bistis, Theodoros Dritsas, Andreas Xanthos etc.

In the positions that will emerge at the conference, the priority is the need to form a Greek social and political front, as well as the submission of radical proposals for the major issues of everyday life.

Strengthening workers’ wages and rights, regaining public control over public goods, strengthening the welfare state, taxing high profits and wealth, and protecting the environment. How the political situation can be changed from the point of view of the interests of the social majority is the one big question.

The second, which the delegates will try to answer and propose solutions for, concerns the inability of the progressive left opposition to form a competitive force against the New Democracy.

The gap is wide and the fragmentation demonstrates the need for real representation. The following interval h should be considered given association of the New Left with the Cosmos of Petros Kokkalis. Together with Alexis Haritsis, they have already participated in two central events and have written articles in the newspaper I Kathimerini.
