A few hours before he visits Athens, the Turkish Foreign Minister talks about the agenda of his talks with Giorgos Gerapetritis
He gave an interview with multiple messages to the newspaper “THE NEWS» its foreign minister Hakan Fidan of Turkey. He is coming to Athens tomorrow Friday where he is scheduled to have a meeting with his Greek counterpart George Gerapetritisin order to explore jointly and at the behest of the Greek-Turkish leaders the existence of a favorable framework for a possible future settlement continental shelf and EEZ.
As he says, there is a positive momentum in Greek-Turkish relations, which is why he chose to come to the Greek capital at the given moment. “I believe we will have more success in bilateral relations if we start the discussion thinking that the other side also has rights and priorities”, pointed out the Turkish Foreign Minister, underlining:
“The interests of both sides are taken into account, while those who derive profits from the crisis are disturbed. If we cannot reach comprehensive solutions as a result of meaningful dialogue, we will resort to international jurisdiction with a holistic approach. In any case, Giorgos and I laid the foundations of our current dialogue, having a long discussion”.
At the same time, he noted that it is important for Turkey to keep the channels of dialogue with Greece functional in the field of immigration, while on the issue of marine parks he expects cooperation with our country in the Aegean.
