“And those who have stayed in SYRIZA are relieved and redeemed. The split had occurred since the end of summer, beginning of September, so it was a typical topic to talk about a new split in SYRIZA,” he told SKAI and on the show “Tithes” with them Giannis Pittaras and George Grigoriadis, the former press representative of SYRIZA Voula Kehagia.

“The adhesive substance was the need for SYRIZA to play a leading role in the political scene and political developments and to claim at some point with claims the governance of the country. In order to achieve this, there must be an agreement and a convergence and a consensus. That didn’t exist,” he added.

Referring to the breakup of SYRIZA, Mrs. Kehagia stressed “There could not be cooperation for reasons that were technical, political and essential. It couldn’t be done otherwise, it was legal from one moment on.”

He pointed out, however, that “the unexpected defeat of 2023 where SYRIZA was crushed while possibly believing that it can take over the governance of the country again, through the simple proportionality that it had voted for, created a transitional situation in the party, which proved to be that it was not manageable. I don’t know if it’s a lack of composure on the part of most executives or the fact that there was a double split. From there on came a series of mistakes, failures, bad circumstances, which did not receive the most appropriate management and political treatment.

“There were SYRIZA cadres who even now are making efforts to keep this political formation standing but there were also cadres, in the majority of them, who seemed to be operating on the basis of a suicidal ideation of the type ‘if SYRIZA is not dissolved we must go blindly in an uncontrolled conflict,” he added.

He assessed that “if there is no seriousness, credibility, an authentic political proposal, SYRIZA does not know if it will recover and when it will recover”.
