After the meeting with him George Gerapetritis in Athens, on Friday, o Hakan Fidan spoke to the Turkish newspaper Milliyet:

“We had the opportunity to thoroughly evaluate our bilateral relations with my dear friend George. We reaffirmed once again our determination to promote relations between Turkey and Greece with a positive agenda.

We are both neighbors and allies. Of course, there are differences of opinion between our countries on certain issues. However, this does not prevent us from meeting and discussing our issues calmly.

Our aim is to contribute to the well-being of our people with a ‘Kazan-Kazan’ approach by improving our relations. We are determined to advance our bilateral relations within the framework of good neighborly principles and confidence-building measures.

During my visit to Athens, we also discussed the preparations for the meeting of the High Level Cooperation Council to be held in Ankara with the participation of our leaders.

Our president visited Athens in December 2023. I believe that the visit of Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis in January will also accelerate our relations.
