Sources of the Turkish Ministry of Defense state that “every development that may disturb the balance on the island of Cyprus and endanger the security of the TRNC” is being closely monitored.
“Turkey is reacting to the possibility of the USA renting facilities in the Republic of Cyprus, as sources from the Ministry of National Defense of the neighboring country state that foreign states should not have bases on the island as the guarantee conditions apply.”
According to what SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbul, the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet cites sources from the Turkish Ministry of Defense, according to which the neighboring country is closely monitoring “any development that may disturb the balance on the island of Cyprus and endanger the security of the “TRDBK”.
The same sources, in fact, warn that they continue to take the necessary military and political measures to ensure the security of the “TRNK” and to protect its rights and interests for any attempt that may be made against international law, such as foreign states having bases on the island. Turkey, as in the past, now and tomorrow, will continue to take all the necessary measures for the security, well-being and peace of the Turkish Cypriots within the framework of the Guarantees and Alliances”.
