“I was never a member of SYRIZA in the classical sense, I was not a leftist, I was a member of SYRIZA” said Evangelos Antonaros today speaking to SKAI and the program Atariastoi.

When asked if he was preparing to form a party with Mr. Kasselakis, he replied: “We are moving on to the organizational aspects” and added: “The new platform has also been released where people who are interested are invited to sign up as members.”

Mr. Antonaros pointed out that this is a kinetic process “addressed to what we call base”.

He emphasized that it is expected to transform into a party in the coming weeks.

“A movement must first stand on its own two feet. And he will stand on his feet. It is not an easy task. The establishment of any party of a new political movement is not easy,” he said characteristically and added that “much less money is needed than anyone imagines.”

When asked if such a sufficient number of MPs will leave SYRIZA that a parliamentary group will be formed, he said: “I believe that other MPs will join, but this, you know, is not a necessary condition for forming a party” and added: ” here we are interested in becoming the voice of the world.”

Regarding what you have seen in Mr. Kasselakis that makes him believe that he is the one who can pull the cart forward and if he believes that he can really face Mr. Mitsotakis, he answered: “First of all, Stefanos Kasselakis, whom I met last year in stay of his election at a political gathering. I voted for him in the second round. In the first round I voted for Nikos Pappa, who disappointed me with his attitude. I say it clearly. I don’t want to go into it any further. I went with SYRIZA because I saw the move made by Alexis Tsipras, the opening towards the center. I come from the middle ground of Kostas Karamanlis. Clear stuff. And I believe that most Greek citizens are democrats and seek progress. So this is what I think Stefanos Kasselakis can accomplish. And can I tell you something? What we said pulled back the curtain and all the fumes came out of this unpleasant thing that existed in Koumoundourou, which even I, who had been active there recently, had not understood. »

Regarding whether SYRIZA has dissolved, he commented that “SYRIZA, with the minds of those who are now at the top, this group will find it difficult to enter the Parliament in the next elections. In other words, we will see the phenomenon we had with Maria Damanaki several years ago when she did not catch the rate and was left at the bottom. However, these also depend very much on the policies that the government, which has a parliamentary majority, will implement in the next period of time.”

Regarding Kasselakis’ party, he said that he will easily enter the Parliament. He added that “we also saw a measurement that gives him a first percentage yesterday, which is well above 3%”, noting that “one should not be happy. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Organizational and programmatic.”
