“The artificial intelligence revolution can really transform our country that suffered a lot in the past coming out of a deep economic crisis,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized in the discussion he had with the member of the Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence and vice president of Endeavor Greece Andreas Stavropoulos in the context of the GenAI Summit.

The prime minister emphasized that the country has a clearly more stable base, that the economy is developing and that artificial intelligence can and should offer us a huge opportunity.

He mentioned that we could use artificial intelligence in various fields and among other things he talked about the promotion of an innovative artificial intelligence ecosystem in Greece and its use with the aim of improving the actions of the government.

Referring to the ways in which artificial intelligence could transform the educational process, he noted that during coronavirus we learned that lifelong education cannot be replaced. He added that there are technologies in laboratories that replace human activity and estimated that this will also happen in some jobs, while, among others, he brought as an example the use of interactive boards in schools that have been placed in all classes from the 5th grade.

In addition, he spoke about the importance of parental controls on apps and expressed concern about whether writing or memorization can be replaced when kids can find anything online.

Mr. Mitsotakis also spoke about weather forecasting systems and said that interesting things are already happening in this field.

“We have the talent and a government that is willing to try to educate itself on how we can use AI to be more effective. We can do it and when I look at what other countries are doing, one of our biggest strengths is talent. To make use of the people who are active in the field of artificial intelligence abroad and to bring them to Greece”, he noted.
