Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking to the Parliament’s budget committee, referred to the Declaration of Athens
Provocative Hakan Fidan appeared again who, speaking to the Parliament committee on the budget, again raised the issue of “Turkish minority in Thrace”, while asking Greece to refrain from provocations.
“In the high-level meetings with Greece, we intensified efforts to develop the positive agenda and made our dialogue mechanisms more functional. Based on the Declaration of Athens on Friendly Relations and Good Neighborliness, we bring to the attention of the Greek side our expectation that Greece refrains from provocations”, emphasized the Turkish Foreign Minister and continued: “The “Turkish Minority” of “Western Thrace” and our “compatriots” living in the Dodecanese is one of the issues we prioritize in our relations with Greece. We are monitoring the resolution of the problems of the “Turkish Minority of Western Thrace”, whose representatives we met with recently. On the other hand, we continue to carefully protect our rights and interests in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean. During our last visit to Athens as well, we demonstrated our decisive stance on this issue.”
