The fresh popular mandate that Nikos Androulakis has with the renewal of trust he recently won, combined with the assumption of his presidency SYRIZA from the Socrates Famello puts the relations of the two parties on new foundations. They have gone through “forty waves”, especially during the period when in Koumoundourou they tried – perhaps inelegantly at times – to sublimate the PASOK and to take as many executives as they could from Harilaou Trikoupi. The simple proportional vote in the summer of 2016 was also interpreted as such a move.

Things have changed and after 12 years of leadership, PASOK is now the second strongest pole, with SYRIZA having turned into a small and medium-sized party that is struggling to return to a position of power. Their difference according to her estimate Pulse poll amounts to nine units.

There is a key element. Between the Nikos Androulakis and in Socrates Famellus there is a mutual appreciation. This was not the case even during the Alexis Tsipras era and even more so during the period when Stefanos Kasselakis was president of SYRIZA. It is recalled that in March, led by Sokratis Famellos, the then official opposition supported the motion of no confidence submitted by PASOK for Tempi. In front of them, the two parties have many opportunities for cooperation not only in the budget, but also in issues such as the minimum wage and housing. For the election of the President of the Republic, everything shows that it will be very difficult for them to come together.

This good climate does not mean that it will be maintained forever and the two parties will not find themselves on a collision course. With SYRIZA ardently pursuing its poll recovery, many “episodes” are expected to be written.

It is, after all, in a phase of great pressure after losing two more MPs yesterday. From the moment, in fact, that there are executives of Koumoundourou who are “slanking” towards Harilaou Trikoupi, there will be “robbery”. After all, how easy is it for Nikos Androulakis to coexist with “half the party” controlled by Pavlos Polakis? The strategy that Socrates Famellos will follow and how much he will be pressured by the MP from Chania, as well as the position he will have in the party will largely determine the relations between the two parties. The polls that come out and rank the two parties in specific positions and percentages are indicative, however it takes some time for the new scenario – which includes the party of Stefanos Kasselakis – to be reflected.
