“Parties that do not respect the principles of the Constitution are not legalized to ask for “contractual” seats” declare Avlonitis, Tzakri, Malama, Pappas and Christidou
“Parties that do not respect the basic principles of the Constitution are not entitled to ask for “contractual” seats” the independent MPs stress in their joint statement Alexandros Avlonitis, Kyriaki Malama, Petros Pappas, Iota Poulou, Theodora Tzakri and Christidou Rally.
As they state in a related announcement, “On the occasion of immoral attacks received yesterday and today by two independent parliamentarians from the SYRIZA -PSwe refer all those late “supporters” of the constitutional order, to Article 60 of the Constitution. This article imposes the freedom of action and thought of the deputy and those who swear by it swear to observe the Constitution”.
They even emphasize that “parties that do not respect the basic principles of the Constitution, such as democracy, free elections, democratic transparency in their operation, are not legalized to ask for “contractual” seats. Seats are not chairs, they are oaths in the Republic.”
“We stand, therefore, next to the two colleagues, we call on them to remain steadfast in the face of any attempt at political intimidation and we stand by them as we ourselves stood by a party that deviated from its democratic path” they say.
It is noted that five of the six MPs have already co-signed statements with the head of the Democracy Movement, Stefanos Kasselakis, while it is interesting that Petros Pappas also signs the above statement.
