The multinational INVITEX (Invitation Exercise) “NIRIIS 24” type exercise has been completed, which was conducted in the bay at the Crete Naval Station and the Naval Interdiction Center (KENAP) and at sea in the wider maritime area of ​​the Cretan Sea.

From the Greek side, the Navy participated with ships and means of command, frigates, fast boats, submarines, amphibious forces, mine warfare, surveillance ships, Naval Aviation, submarine disasters (DDYK).

Also participating were media and personnel of the Greek Army, the Army, the Air Force, and the Special Warfare Command, units from France and the United States of America, as well as observers from Egypt, Albania, Bulgaria, and Israel.

Furthermore, the GR Maritime Force Headquarters (GRMARFOR) participated in the exercise and was evaluated by the Fleet Headquarters, as the Naval Force Commander’s Staff at sea. The assessment was carried out within the framework of the Full Operational Capability (FOC) process, as one of the NATO Maritime Forces (MARFOR) at the tactical level, states a relevant announcement of the General Directorate of Defense.

The “NIRIIS” exercise is organized annually by the Navy in order to practice procedures, both on classic forms of naval warfare and on modern forms of threats, in matters of maritime security.
