“We are not entering into this conversation. We will move institutionally, we will not get into nomenclature. It is too early to make suggestions. We have outlined specific characteristics that the candidate must meet. We mustn’t rush.” is the first comment by executives of Harilaou Trikoupis on the call made by Alexis Haritsis to the progressive forces to support for President of the Republic the former vice-president of the Council of State, the president of the authority for ensuring the privacy of communications, Mr. Christos Rammos.

At the same time, they point out that there was absolutely no communication from the New Left to PASOK, about the invitation that came from Alexis Haritsis from the Parliament’s peristyle. The respect for the person of Christos Rammos is a given as he stood up to the circumstances and lives up to his role as reported by Harilaou Trikoupis sources.

The press representative of PASOK even pointed out a little earlier speaking to “Parapolitika” that hasty moves can “burn” serious persons.

“We did not disapprove of Mr. Rammos. We said now is not the time. It is not possible for everyone to have an opinion. Mr. Rammos fought for Democracy and not for ambitions,” said Kostas Tsoukalas.

The resignation of Harilaou Trikoupis was preceded by the member of the Political Council of PASOK and head of the Renewing Left, Thodoris Margaritis who had referred to the person of Christos Rammos as a choice for the highest State office. “The institution of the President of the Republic is too serious an issue for anyone to play the pumpkin in public” commented close associates of Nikos Andoulakis, with the answer coming today via a post on Facebook by the head of the Renewing Left, which he characterized as an “overreaction” leadership in his intervention.

“The name of Chr. Rammu is indicative. I’m not making suggestions… The PASOK/KINAL leadership “overreacted” to my intervention. I evaluate it carefully. However, I will insist – not on the issues of persons for PtD – but on the strategy for consultation between the parties of the progressive space so that there is no fragmentation or other initiatives that change the rules of the game.” notes among others in his post Thodoris Margaritis.

It is clear that now PASOK is under pressure both from the Government and from the left. And while Harilaou Trikoupi submits one amendment after another on issues concerning society and the economy, Alexis Haritsis, with the proposal for President of the Republic, tried to get his party to take the initiative of the movements in the Center-Left area.

It is something that they are well aware of in Harilaou Trikoupis, who are quick to clarify that PASOK is not being redefined and is moving forward with a program and proposals.
