The meeting with the prime minister lasted more than an hour Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the president of PASOK Nikos Androulakisin the Prime Minister’s office in Parliament.

The meeting started with a relaxed conversation, with the president of PASOK arriving at the appointment three minutes after 12. As soon as Mr. Androulakis entered the Prime Minister’s office, Mr. Mitsotakis told him that the journalists asked him what he would treat him to.

“Dolmadakia” answered Mr. Androulakis, “green tea?” asked Mr. Mitsotakis.

The dialogue in detail:

Kyriakos Mitsotakis: “Welcome him. how are you Well; They asked me what I’ll treat you to”

Nikos Androulakis: “Donuts”

Mitsotakis: “‘Green’ tea?”

Androulakis: “How was yesterday (ie the meeting with Starmer)?”

Mitsotakis: “It went well. It was an interesting conversation. I know the British Prime Minister well, but now I had the opportunity to talk about the whole matter. We await the developments for the Sculptures”.

I am very happy to be able to officially congratulate you as a statesman. It is not the job of the opposition to agree with the government, but we can discuss honestly, communicate whenever necessary. This is what the times demand.

Androulakis: “For PASOK, the return of the Parthenon Sculptures is a national goal, in a struggle started by Melina Merkouri. PASOK will also help in any way it can.

As far as consensus is concerned, my experience from the European Parliament is that the only way to move forward is through dialogue, each from their own ideological point of view. We have submitted proposals these days that are of interest in many fields of social and economic interest.”

There may not be an agenda at the meeting between the two, but the president of PASOK is expected to open issues that concern society. The economy and accuracy will be in the foreground, the consensus on the demographic which PASOK considers to be a major issue.

The housing problem is high on Harilaou Trikoupi’s agenda, as are issues of the rule of law and institutions. Here Nikos Androulakis is said to be determined to repeat his intention to table a proposal to change the way of selecting the leadership of the Judiciary in the upcoming Constitutional Review.

Harilaou Trikoupi’s main priority is to capture the agenda of PASOK at the meeting, which will highlight – as officials say – the programmatic opposition of PASOK.
