The role of European resources in the creation of new jobs and the strengthening of the infrastructures directly related to the daily life of the citizen, highlighted the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis, during the visit of a government echelon, in the presence of local MPs, in Kastoria and Grevena, where he was presented the National Strategy for the Regional Development of the specific areas, in the context of similar actions throughout the territory.

Specifically, in Kastoriawere introduced 90 investment plans in total budget over 32 million euro which were approved for funding by the Just Development Transition Programme. From the NSRF Regional Program 2021-2027, infrastructure projects such as the energy upgrade of public buildings, water supply projects and flood protection projects are financed. Actions with a total budget of 19 million are financed through the Recovery Fund. euros, such as the renovation of the Argos Orestikos Health Center, the modernization of the TEP at the Kastoria Hospital, the restoration of the Byzantine Cathedral of the Metropolitan Cathedral and the modernization of 12 KEP of the Municipalities of Kastoria, Argos Orestikos and Nestorios. At the same time, the construction of student residences with a capacity of 150 beds on the Kastoria Campus through PPP is in the tender process.

In Grevena, through the NSRF Regional Program 2021-2027, projects such as the creation of social structures, infrastructure and water supply projects are financed, with a total budget of 22.7 million. euro. At the same time, through financing from the Recovery Fund, important public projects are implemented in the amount of more than 140.16 million. euros such as the completion of the E65 motorway, the renovation and energy upgrade of the Deskati Health Center and the Grevena General Hospital, as well as the modernization of 10 KEP in the area. In addition, 57 investment projects with a total budget of 15 million were approved in the Just Development Transition Program. euros which are expected to create 150 new jobs.
