An amendment has been tabled to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs bill to be introduced tomorrow for debate in the House of Commons to suspend state funding to the Spartans.

As the Supreme Court had banned the participation of the Spartans in the European elections, considering the convicted Ilias Kasidiaris as their real leader, the amendment essentially enables the Plenary of the Parliament to suspend state funding.

In the amendment in particular, it is also defined that a party that does not take part in elections cannot receive state funding and a special provision requests the return of relevant expenses that have been paid “unnecessarily”.

Kontis vs. PASOK

It is recalled that the parliamentary representative of the “Spartians” Ioannis Kontis reserved an answer to the report of the PASOK MP, Panagiotis Doudonis, regarding the grant to the “Spartians”, in his closing speech, for the 2025 budget.

The MP read a long list of the “scandals” of the PASOK era, as he said, emphasizing that the Ministry of Finance should claim the money that was “looted”.

PASOK MP Panagiotis Doudonis, speaking in the budget debate in Parliament, stated that the finances are “gallant” to the “Spartans” and accused the government of “giving rights to the defendants, with Kasidiaris as the real leader” because the budget includes the money for the “Spartans”, while eight months ago a court decision was issued recognizing as the real leader Kasidiaris. “This is a disgrace that will always follow you, that the money of the Greek people, 1 million after the decision, 1,700,000 in total – and how much more? – is available for the purposes of a convicted criminal”, Mr. Doudonis.

The parliamentary representative of the “Spartans” Ioannis Kontis said today that the Ministry of Finance should claim the money lost by the Greek public from the scandals and “thefts” of PASOK. “We will be happy not to receive a grant, if PASOK starts returning the money that has been stolen. We are not from parthenogenesis. We cannot forget these”, said the parliamentary representative of the “Spartans” and read a series of cases-“scandals”, as he said, from the PASOK period, including “the Tombra scandal”, for which Mr. Kontis commented that “while PASOK has flagged the surveillances today, it has forgotten Tombra, who, with will has been proven, defrauded everyone”.

“Let PASOK tell us how it will repay all this. You gentlemen will not come to abandon us while you are pioneers in theft, robbery, with your political antics,” said Mr. Kontis and added that “the Greek people are asking for the billions stolen by PASOK back, they don’t forget them, even if the AFM party has changed, but morally it remains the same”.
