He described it as a feat Panagiotis Giannakis the conquest of the Euroleague last year by Panathinaikos in his speech at the PSAP awards ceremony in which he received a special honorary award for the presence of the Greek teams in the event.
In detail what he said:
“I think it was shocking that there were two teams (including Greek) in the Final Four of the EuroLeague. What made me especially happy was that the MVP of the Final Four was a Greek, who started with dreams and ended up doing something shocking, moving from one big team to another and succeed in winning the European Championship, Kostas Slukas.
With this, he should give a message that all teams from the smallest to the largest should understand that the cell and the power is in the Greek athlete and we should support him and try to give him the opportunities he needs. This should start at a young age.
From the emergence of the coach at a young age and to the one who takes the children by the hand, whom we admired today. I would honestly like to say that I admired our children for their great successes and awards, but also bowed to their character.
Something that the Greek State must understand, how important it is to give our children the opportunity to learn about sports and how much better society we will build and which is highlighted by what the children told us and by the modesty they show in their daily lives.
I honestly think that the Panathinaikos team did a great job and they deserve congratulations, to all the contributors. Let’s all understand that we have to support the Greek kids, now that there are many temptations, with better facilities and more attractive stadiums, so that the Greek kids can fill them”.
