Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will travel to Finnish Lapland at the weekend where he will participate in the informal North-South Summit.

In particular, the prime minister will participate in the work of the session that will take place on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December at the invitation of his Finnish counterpart.
The Prime Ministers of Italy and Sweden, as well as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, will also take part in the Summit.

During the informal Summit, central challenges facing Europe today, in a volatile geopolitical environment, will be discussed. The leaders will exchange views on defence, immigration and the security challenges facing Europe at a time when the war in Ukraine is at a critical stage and a new geopolitical landscape is taking shape in the Middle East.

As the prime minister emphasized when asked about it in Brussels, the Summit “is a first-class opportunity to discuss exactly the issues I spoke about before, about how the countries of the north and also the countries of the south perceive the new defense challenges of the European Union, each from his own point of view.”
