To Agora website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted today on National Strategic Plan for Extraversion (ESSE) of 2025. The ESSE, which is completed this year earlier than any other time, is the result of a consultation between the public sector and productive entities. It captures all of the actions of Economic Diplomacy and Outreach, at multilateral, regional, European and bilateral level in target countries, through 649 actions and is a key operational tool for an extroverted and strong Greek economy.

Forewording the 2025 edition, the Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis he emphasized the active role that Greece must undertake, promoting international cooperation with realism and self-confidence, in an environment of global challenges. Drawing strength from extroverted entrepreneurship and seafaring, guided by the rules of international law, through specific governmental choices, Greece has upgraded its image geostrategically, geopolitically and in the economic field, being a pillar of stability and continuing to deepen relations with strategic, traditional partners and collaborations with third countries. In this climate, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is active, with the Offices of Economic and Commercial Affairs, the supervised entities of Enterprise Greece and Export Credit Greece, with the aim, among other things, of supporting outward-looking entrepreneurship.

The gradual transformation of Greece into an attractive investment destination and a reliable business partner at a time of intense international competition and geopolitical restructuring was also underlined by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Costas Fragogiannis. The position of our country on the international stage is upgraded through the promotion of bilateral and multilateral relations, the development of commercial networks and contacts, the strengthening of exports and the attraction of investments. The Deputy Minister noted the remarkable resilience of Greek export performance, which is the result of a collective, systematic and multi-level effort. The aim is for exports of products and services to reach 60% of GDP by 2027. The constant focus on attracting investments is reflected by the new ESSE, which stands out for the number and range of activities and the strategic targeting of specific markets and countries.

The fact that the open economies with a presence in the international markets are the ones that historically record high performance and offer prospects of prosperity to the citizens, pointed out the General Secretary of International Economic Relations and Outreach, Dimitris Skalkos. Greece also has such an open economy that is making steady strides in strengthening extroversion, with exports recording positive performances and having increased added value, while growing at a rate multiple times that of the Eurozone. Positive performances are also recorded in terms of attracting foreign direct investments. In the rapidly changing times we are going through, with crises, geopolitical tensions and the disruption of supply chains, it is more necessary than ever to exercise active economic diplomacy that ensures resilience and strengthens the potential of the Greek economy.
