The reason for the dispute between them was the statement of the MEP and president of “Voice of Reason” that the Turks should mourn for Simitis
The angry reaction of the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadisher statements provoked Aphrodite Latinopoulos for Costas Simitis after the death of the former prime minister, with the ND vice-president speaking of “horrific statements” that are far from what constitutes Greece culturally.
“I heard Mrs. Latinopoulou’s statements about Costas Simitis and they disgusted me for two reasons. The first is the moment. The first thing that the Greek learns from the time of Homer and the Christian from the fathers of the Church, is that until a body is buried all controversy and accusation about the person ceases. If he has not understood this, he has nothing to do with the right, orthodoxy and Hellenism. This is a violation of the rules that define the Greek,” initially said Mr. Georgiadis.
“You cannot come out and call a man a traitor who has not yet entered the grave. It is a horrible behavior of complete lack of everything that constitutes Greece culturally” added the Minister of Health.
“I go to the political point: the statement is appalling. Those who know Greek history – Mrs. Latinopoulou is obviously irrelevant – know that the biggest problem for Hellenism is division. He is the one that Hellenism has paid for throughout time. When he comes out and says “the Turks must mourn”, he is essentially saying that Simitis is a traitor. In other words, the Greek people had elected a traitor as prime minister for 8 years, that is, those who say good things about Kostas Simitis are traitors. In other words, Mrs. Latinopoulou is a patriot and the other traitors” concluded Adonis Georgiadis.

A little while later Aphrodite Latinopoulou tried to answer, without, however, withdrawing anything from what she said about Kostas Simitis.
“I expressed my sincere condolences on a human level. On a political level I made some statements, I think we have a democracy, and I can judge the consequences of the political work of Kostas Simitis and the consequences we are paying today” he told Action24 and accused Mr. Georgiadis that he “puts words in my mouth” saying that “he may have changed his opinion in two hours because he is the king of the butt-tumble”.
“I traitor did not say Simitis, I said about some historical objective truths, Did Simitis gray the Aegean with the Imia or not? Shall we talk about the suicides in the stock market, about the S-300 in Cyprus?” insisted Mrs. Latinopoulou, who did not even agree with the remark about the timing of her statements saying “if you had called me on Friday to tell them, today you called me, we didn’t know to wait for 40… When do you want me to speak? Easter? On a human level, I respect that and that’s why I expressed my sincere condolences.”

Afterwards, the Minister of Health came back with his post on social media, where he made relevant clarifications regarding his conflict with Aphrodite Latinopoulou.
It is recalled that on Monday, the president of the Voice of Reason speaking to he said “you won’t see me doing the hagiography of Mr. Simitis. I don’t forget Imia, I don’t forget that 3 heroes lost their lives for their country and Simitis initiated the graying of the Aegean, I don’t forget the stock market, I don’t forget that he handed Ocalan, an ally of Greece, to Turkey, I don’t forget that he abolished the religion in identities, I don’t forget that the ND baptized the Semitic high priest of Intertwining. The ones who should mourn are the Turks and not the Greeks because the Aegean turned gray”
• Turkey should have declared 4 days of mourning for Simitis, not us.
• I don’t forget the heroes of Imia, the stock market, the overpricing of the Olympic games, the forged elements for entering the euro.
