“So far we have organized five evacuation operations and we hope to succeed in a sixth,” he said, adding that “this is a tragic moment and the minimum we must all take seriously.”

It is noted that the release operation of the Consul General in Mariupol Manoli Androulaki, as well as the field staff of the OSCE Mission, together with their family members started yesterday afternoon.

The operation takes place in close coordination with the OSCE. The convoy is expected to move west.

As it became known earlier by the local authorities, about 2,000 vehicles have left the besieged city.
