“NEVER REPLACE ‘NEVER’ the heinous crime, the mass of World War II, a murder against humanity itself,” the Foreign Minister notes
Today, on January 27, 1945, Soviet troops arrived at the former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and released 7,000 survivors. The day of the release of the camp was declared by the United Nations Holocaust Day.
“January 27, 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi Camp Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Soviet Army and honors the World and National Day of Remembrance of the Jewish victims of the Holocaust,” the Greek Foreign Ministry said today.

“Six million Jews were exterminated by the Nazis across Europe and between 67,151 Greeks. At the victims of Nazi atrocity we pay tribute.
Today, with a few more with us by survivors, we are increasing the debt of all of us and the burden of responsibility to transcend the respect, knowledge and memory of the Holocaust to younger generations, so that it will never repeat “NEVER” Mass during World War II, a murder against humanity itself.
It is our duty to step up the collective battle against anti -Semitism, racism, intolerance and discrimination and to work together for the peaceful coexistence of people, ”the statement concludes.
