The new program started in January 2025 – Participation in the program will be voluntary, but compulsory returns will be sought
The migration is dominant in the election campaign two weeks before the February 23 election in Germany. At the same time, the German government is promoting a pilot refugee refugee program that received asylum in Greece and re -applied for asylum in the country, as Ertnews reports.
Entitled “Germany wishes to reinforce refugees in Greece”, the German magazine “Spiegel” refers to the German government’s pilot program aimed at “encouraging return for immigrants”, whose request for international protection has already been approved in Greece.
According to Ertnews, the new pilot program is being worked out by the Federal Migrant and Refugee Service (BAMF) and comes as a continuation of the “Helios” program, which ended last fall.
According to a report by Spiegel, those who return will receive support from the Greek authorities through a special aid program for housing, feeding and social counseling, and will be part of a special integration program for learning and searching for a later stage.
The new program began in January 2025. Participation in the program will be voluntary, but compulsory returns will be sought.
The aim is to bring back to Greece people who have already received protection status in Greece for the last two years, age is between 19 – 49 years and is capable of work.
The organization and funding of departure will be carried out by the German federal states, and the costs of the program in Greece will be first covered by EU funds and subsequently by the Greek government.
It is important for the German authorities to create the right -wing conditions for the refugees who have already received asylum in Greece, as judicial decisions in the past have canceled the return due to “bad living conditions” in Greece.
