The book of Nikos Christodoulidis will continue to be an essential tool for those who want to immerse themselves in the Cyprus issue, said the Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias at the presentation of the book of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, entitled “The geopolitical realities in the plans for the solution of the Cyprus problem (1948-1978)”.
As Mr. Dendias pointed out, the book analyzes the various settlement plans of Cyprus in a critical thirty years. “Reading it, for me, was a very useful approach to the complex dimensions of the Cyprus problem. “Especially in view of the preparations for the informal pentagon in Geneva,” he said.
“Nikos, as you know, combines many roles in one person. “Today, it highlights even more the status of the academic and the writer”, noted Mr. Dendias.
His study, as he pointed out, analyzes the solution efforts of Cyprus in three periods: in colonialism, in the independence of the Republic of Cyprus and in the period after the invasion. It is a history lesson. It underlines our commitment to a just and sustainable solution to the Cyprus problem. Always based on the decisions of the UN Security Council and the European acquis. “It underscores our commitment to respecting international law.”
Mr. Dendias could not attend the presentation of the book and addressed a greeting via videotaped messageas located in New Yorkwhere will meet the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, with whom he is going to discuss, among other things, as he said, the Cyprus issue. Finally, responding to relevant comments, he said that his participation in the presentation of the book could not constitute an intervention in the interior of Cyprus and stressed that he had excellent cooperation with Mr. Christodoulidis, as he has today with the Cypriot Foreign Minister Giannis Kasoulidis.
