Strengthening bilateral relations and investigating ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation between Greece and the US was at the center of contacts made by Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis in Washington.

The leader of Greek diplomacy made targeted contacts on Wednesday with US legislators who have influenced committees of interest in the geographical district of our country. During these meetings, the inter -party support enjoyed by Greek -American relations in Congress was found.

In particular, on Wednesday he met with the Republican Chairman of the Senate International Relations Committee, Jim Ris, and the head of Democratic Jin Sahin. In addition, he visited Republican MP Brian Masty, chairing the Foreign Affairs Committee in Parliament, as well as Democratic Vice President Gregory Mikas.

During the discussions, emphasis was placed on the promotion of Greece as an investment destination, as well as the emergence of the critical geopolitical role it performs as a strategic energy hub in the Eastern Mediterranean region. The role played by our country as a reliable US partner in Southeast Europe and the Middle East has also been discussed.

In this context, US legislators showed interest and wanted to be informed about the recent tour of the Greek minister in the Middle East, as well as his visit to Syria.
