“The duty of the state to turn the pandemic demand of” Never Again “into policies for safe railways,” government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said in a statement on the great rallies held on Friday for the two -year anniversary.

In particular, Mr. Marinakis notes that “these demands were now expressed by citizens, either by mass and peaceful participation in the rallies throughout the country but also in many places outside Greece, either by posting on social networks, or in a silent manner. Citizens’ demands and feelings are not entitled to any party, at least to imagine, to turn them into demands of a micro -political character. “

In detail the announcement of the government spokesman:

Today, two years have passed since the Tempi National Tragedy. Two years after the night that our 57 fellow human beings were lost. One night when fatal human mistakes encountered the worst face of the state mechanism. For the families of the victims, time stopped that night. Primarily for them, but also for the whole of society, three demands have value: truth, justice, never again.

These demands were now expressed by citizens as a whole, either by mass and peaceful participation in the rallies throughout the country but also in many places outside Greece, either by posting on social networks or in a silent manner. Citizens’ demands and feelings are not entitled to any party, at least to imagine, to turn them into demands of micro -political character.

Democracy has proved its power, protecting our fellow citizens who participated in peaceful rallies. Unfortunately, some morbid minorities, after the end of the rallies of Athens and Thessaloniki, tried to tarnish a day of mourning, which unites all Greeks. The Greek Police reacted calmly and professionally, rejecting these attacks and preventing escalation, with the primary concern of protecting the physical integrity of the demonstrators.

In memory of our 57 fellow human beings lost in the tragic accident of Tempi, the state has the duty of the “never again” demand to turn it into even more policies for safe railways.
