Reply to today’s newspaper report La tribune for communication between Nikos Dendia and the French counterpart of Sebasten Likorni for Meteor missiles in Turkey, the Ministry of Defense announces.

Regarding today’s report by the French newspaper La Tribune, according to which National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has not allegedly responded to requests by Sébastien Lecornu’s French counterpart for a meeting in Athens to discuss the developments in the issue of Defense indicate the following:

YPAM of France sent a letter to the Greek Ministry of Finance (dated 6 February 2025, which was sent by email on Friday, February 7, 2025), which, among other things, proposed a meeting to Athens for the two ministers to discuss the issue that had not arisen.

The Minister of National Defense, in the US, responded by letter on Monday, February 10, stating that he was looking forward to welcoming his counterpart to Athens at a mutually appropriate time.

On the eve of the Council of YPAM NATO and while Mr Ministry of Interior traveled from Washington to Brussels, he came to the Greek permanent NATO delegation through the corresponding French request for the meeting of the two YPAMs on the sidelines of the meeting. Due to the short time of time the two ministers would have to discuss such an important issue, it was suggested by the Greek meeting to take place in Athens as initially requested by a French side, a proposal which was accepted.

On Friday, February 28th, the French YPAM, in his new letter, forwarded to a Greek letter sent to his British counterpart, with which Mr Lecornu asked the United Kingdom to take into account Athens’ concerns about the sale of Eurofighters.

At the same time, the French YPAM expressed his regret that the meeting had not been held in Brussels and reiterated his proposal to meet in Athens.

The next day? On Saturday, March 1, 2025, Mr. Dendias, in a letter, thanked his counterpart for informing his counterpart, explained the reasons that the meeting of 13 February was not possible and repeated his open invitation to a Galo Minister for a meeting in Athens.
