Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar said he was “pleased” with the progress of talks on the Cyprus issue, announcing that the two sides will meet again in late July. Some confidence building measures were also decided, including the opening of new passages.
At the same time, UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres described the negotiations in Geneva “constructive”, noting that both sides have shown a commitment to attempt to progress in talks.
Earlier, the informal meeting on the Cyprus issue in an expanded form, convened by UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres in the Palace of Nations, the United Nations headquarters in Geneva.
The informal discussion was attended by the leaders of the five delegations: Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan Fidan Fidan Fidan Fidan Fidan.
