This was reportedly emphasized by majority rapporteur Konstantina Karampatsolis, developing three main arguments in favor of accepting the former deputy minister’s proposal at today’s critical meeting of the Commission in Parliament.

Specifically, the New Democracy MP:

1) He rejected the opposition’s allegations that a possible direct reference was not in line with the Constitution, stressing that the Triantopoulos request is “absolutely compatible with the provisions of Article 86 of the Constitution” on the criminal treatment of government officials, but also with the Rules of Procedure. Mrs Karampatsolis even recalled that the constitutionally certain mission of the Commission is the drafting of a finding, which would suggest in plenary to exercise or not prosecution against the former deputy minister.
