The United States and Greece are sharing a democratic and intellectual heritage that enhances their cooperation in many areas, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio notes in its congratulatory message on the celebration of the March 25th anniversary.

The head of American diplomacy references to strong economic and military cooperation between Washington and Athens, saying the US is looking forward to the even greater development of Greek -American relations.

At this point, Marko Rubio welcomes the defense spending paid by Greece to modernize its armed forces, saying that they are boosting collective defense and preventing threats to joint security.

The US Secretary of State did not fail to mention the new cooperation that has been developed between the United States and Greece in the UN Security Council, where our country is involved as a non -permanent member. As he noted, the US and Greece are working together to meet global challenges.

In the context of the announcement, Mr Rubio also underlined the cultural links that unite the two countries. “The foundation of our close ties is the strong cultural and family ties between our two peoples, including the living Greek Diaspora community,” he said.

Finally, he expressed the US commitment to help tackle the crisis caused by illegal immigration but also to promote a steady and prosperous Eastern Mediterranean.
