The President of the Republic attended the military parade in the Constitution by sending a message of unity and stability
A message of unity and stability was sent after the end of the military parade by the President of the Republic, Costas Tasoulas, who stressed that “with today’s parade we have experienced great moments that are worth every year to live again”.
Mr Tasoulas noted that “the 25th was a great uprising with incalculable sacrifices and ultimately the promise made by the heroes was achieved. For 9 years they reiterated the “freedom or death” that was eventually achieved. “
Mr. Tasoula’s statement
“Today all Greeks and all Greeks celebrated and honored the greatest national anniversary of Hellenism.
And today here, through an amazing and animated parade of the armed part of the Nation, with the joy of impatience in the eyes, our young and young people marched, we have experienced great moments that deserve again every year.
What was March 25, 1821? It was a great uprising, which lasted nine years. He had incalculable sacrifices. And finally the promise that our ancestors made to themselves for the acquisition of political existence and independence was achieved. Stars and rivers and waves of Pontus, winds and mountains of the mountains for nine years repeated “freedom or death”, as freedom conquered.
And this state, the first, the independent, the modern Greek, early 1830s, to think again, to recall again what borders it had, to understand how we started, how chock we started, how difficult we started. And to appreciate the course of the four hundred and four years we have been now. The borders of the first Greek state early 1830 reached Central Greece. They reached the line formed by the mouths of Sperchios in the Maliakos Gulf and Acheloos in the Ionian Sea. We also had Euboea, the Cyclades and the Sporades.
And with this starting point we made the first nation state, at a time when the authoritarian, multinational empires prevailed. And, yes, this nation state, the small, was the following centuries example and this model spread everywhere. So, in the beginning, our limits, but our ambitions are unlimited.
In the two centuries that followed through outbreaks and falls, through low -raising and raising, Greece has achieved a lot. Today in this stone cape, which has been fate by us, at this crossroads of continents, Greece is a pillar of peace, stability, a place that seeks its prosperity and a state that urgently wants to resemble the most advanced countries in Europe.
So let’s remember, then, how hard we started, how choking we started in our limits, to appreciate where we arrived and to believe that what we claim, along with our progress, is achieved. They are achieved with national and social cohesion, with unity in these great and great unity. And if we want to believe it, and if we want to do it, let’s visit again on March 25, 1821, it is our largest and most important school, it is our most optimistic source for that and today we honored it in the best way.
Happy birthday to all Greek women and all Greeks! Long live March 25th!‘
