“The government did absolutely nothing to attract this top investor” – “it relied on the seismic data collected by the PASOK government in 2011-12”
Announcement on its expression of interest Chevron For hydrocarbon surveys south of Crete issued the PASOKby launching an attack on the government.
In more detail:
“Due to the lack of any other government project, we understand its anxiety to celebrate the supposed vote of confidence by Chevron in Greece, due to the company’s interest in hydrocarbon deposits south of Crete.
We remind 3 simple truths:
1. The Government did absolutely nothing to attract this top investor, who for his expression was based on the seismic data collected by the PASOK government in 2011-12, as well as the 2014 competition. The New Democracy government has not even called a New Democrats.
2. Based on Law 4001/2011 (“Maniatis Law”) the Government is essentially obliged to accept the expression of interest in research, when it comes from a credible interested party, much more when it comes from the 2nd largest company in the world.
3. Let the government, at least with its previous oligarchs and delays, take care not to prosecute these top investors, Exxonmobil and Chevron, from the country, as unfortunately, with its sole responsibility, it did with two other energy giants, French Total and Spanish.
Recall that in its recent maritime parks competition Libya recognizes the limits of the Greek EEZ for the first time as they were determined by PASOK in 2011. We hope the government will also take this opportunity to defend national sovereign rights. “
