There are sufficient stocks “For months ahead of us” in cereals, flour and vegetable oilsaccording to the Minister of Development Adoni Georgiadiwho presented to Parliament amendment establishing an obligation for traders to record their relevant stocks on a special platform.
As Mr. Georgiadis said, we establish the obligation of all traders throughout production chainsale, etc. of various products (cereals, flour and vegetable oils) to declare the quantities of these products in electronic platformdue to the war in Ukraineso that the state has a complete picture “and above all, not to allow some people to cause an artificial shortage, and with it to hoard, either with the black market or by artificially increasing their price too much, more than caused by the international crisis” .
“It simply came to our notice then platform, does not mean that we have a shortage, today, of these products. I am clarifying it so as not to create panic for no reason “, said Mr. Georgiadis and stressed:” We have already recorded, from the big chains, the stocks in these products. There are sufficient stocks, for months ahead of us, for all these products. No panic is justified. He noted, however, that specifically for sunflower oilseems to exist greater pressurebecause due to the large increase in the price of fossil fuels a large part of sunflower oil, goes for fuel and so is missing from the food market, however, and in this species we have great sufficiency for a long time ahead of us.
Consequently, stressed Mr. Georgiadis, the amendment is made to protect the consumer public in critical foodstuffs because of invasive of Russia in Ukraine.
