For breach of maritime areas of its jurisdiction, Greece, the Turkish Foreign Ministry, blames Greece following the announcement of “Marine Spatial Planning” by Athens, as reported by SKAI correspondent in Constantinople, Manolis Kostidis.

In detail the announcement of the Turkish Foreign Minister:

“Some of the areas set out in the ‘DMP’ maritime planning (DMP) stated by Greece in accordance with EU laws, are violating the maritime jurisdiction of our country in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.

We emphasize once again that the unilateral actions and claims of Greece will have no legal consequence for our country.

We remind you that unilateral actions should be avoided in closed or semi -seasy seas such as the Aegean and the Mediterranean, that International Maritime Law encourages cooperation between coastal states in these seas, including environmental issues, and that it is in this context.

The aforementioned moods and attempts to make events will have no legal consequence for our country, today or tomorrow, as they did not have in the past.

Turkey maintains its position that an honest and overall approach to resolving issues on the basis of international law, equality and good neighborly should be adopted in the context of Athens’ Declaration of Friendly Relations and good neighborhood of December 723.

The marine spatial planning that our country is transmitted to the UNESCO and the United Nations Services
