A strong confrontation occurred on Friday morning at ANT1 between SYRIZA MP George Carameros and the New Democracy MP Makarios Lazaridison the occasion of the recent arrests of far -right organization members at Thessaloniki and the general issue of far -right.

It all started when George Karameros accused the Right and the ND that, according to him, they were responsible for rising the far -right to young people, saying:

“They sent the young people to the arms of the far -right”, which caused the immediate reaction of Makarios Lazaridis, who called on him to stop what he described as a delirium.

Mr Karameros claimed that Kyriakos Mitsotakis, due to his communication superiority, imposes the political agenda, but without – in his view – to be able to impose the thinking of the citizens. He recalled the 80th anniversary of the anti -fascist victory and accused those who equate the extremities, saying, “Not so, you all have a responsibility. And the Right is responsible and the New Democracy has a responsibility, “referring to the accusations of” traitors “received by SYRIZA executives due to the Prespa Agreement. He argued that young people who are now accused of violent acts against immigrants were inspired by such far -right rhetoric. He accused Mr. Lazaridis personally, saying:

“Mr Lazaridis, you send the young people to the arms of fascist organizations.”

Mr Lazaridis replied that the debate was particularly saddened by him, as he did not expect him, given his personal assessment to his interlocutor. He described the statements of Karameros as a “political delirium”, so the SYRIZA MP responds to him in high tones, “Is the world say, now tell me about delirium and will I sit down to hear? What do you mean delirium? ” And he called him to make a meaningful opposition.

Mr Lazaridis continued, stating that he understood the problems of both Mr Karameros and SYRIZA as a whole. Then Karameros reacted strongly, asking, “Well, are you serious now? Are you serious? ” And he accused the New Democracy of being a major problem in the country, adding that the debt of his own faction is to change that.

The ND MP argued that such behaviors lead to the political withering of SYRIZA, which he accused of having no proposals. He said Mr Karameros was trying to “charge Mitsotakis for far -right phenomena”, while – as he said – it was SYRIZA the one who “hatched the snake’s egg” through co -habitation with Golden Dawn in the squares.

He recalled that the New Democracy was the one who put the far -right prison and accused SYRIZA of not even finding a room for her trial for five years. “You have to be ashamed,” he said.

Mr. Carameros replied:

“Here’s our program, take it. Was the Greek government traitors? And the little kids who are listening to you now, won’t they become fascists? “

Mr. Lazaridis again described his interlocutor’s attitude, saying:

“You’re over, it’s enough. Finally, what is this today? Do you tell us far -right and fascists? You are not ashamed. Make no proposal for Greek society, shame. I didn’t expect this today. It is over because they have a problem with political survival. “

Mr Karameros replied by accusing the New Democracy of “caressing” the far -right, stating:

“You are caressing them, of course you caress them. Whatever you do. “
