Athens’ readiness to participate in the design of the next day in Gaza was emphasized by the House of Representatives by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou, answering a timely question by the new leftist MP, Sia Anagnostopoulou, on “Israeli”.

We support the plan presented by Egypt For the reconstruction and design of the next day in Gaza, without displacement of the Palestinians, “Ms Papadopoulou said, noting that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was mentioned in this issue during his recent meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fathaki.

“We are ready to participate in this process. But at the same time we have repeatedly stated and noted that it should be ensured that Hamas does not have a role in Gaza and will not be able to threaten Israel in order to achieve peace in the region, “Papadopoulou said.

For her part, Ms Anagnostopoulou said that while the dead have exceeded 63,000 and we are constantly seeing photos of children starving, “is our country still working with Israel?”

If our country does not step foot, and at the level of the European Union, to stop any cooperation, how will this evil stop if it does not feel Israel pressed on somewhere? ” Mrs Anagnostopoulou wondered and added: talking about the next day is absolutely inappropriate when we have the present day, which is so, but so ominous.

Responding, Mrs Papadopoulou said that the humanitarian situation in Gaza, of course, is of particular concern for all of us. “Greece has from the first moment separated Hamas from the Palestinian people and has repeatedly contributed to the relief of the affected,” Ms Papadopoulou said and said:

” – Greece has stood firmly in favor of Gaza’s unintentional humanitarian aid and has sent humanitarian aid either bilaterally or through international organizations – in 2024 we have provided 120,000 euros to the Unity, to the World Health Organization of 200,000 euros and to the Children of Palestine.

We also participated in the Jordanian Humanitarian Aid Transfer Initiative to Gaza from air.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and coordinated with the relevant Ministries and Services, we welcomed injured children and their Gaza companions, who are already in our country and are being hospitalized in Greek Nursing Institutions.

Utilizing our role in the United Nations, we have aimed to protect vulnerable groups from conflicts such as children. Protection of children in the armed conflicts is also one of the 6 pillars of our term of office in the Security Council.

Our country has been actively participating in all Security Council meetings on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Israeli settlements, the loss of humanitarian organizations in Gaza, the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, the situation in the Middle East and the Palestinian issue. At all these meetings, we made clear our position and our commitment to implementing and respecting international humanitarian law.

But the biggest contribution that our country can have is to remove the cause of humanitarian crises and challenges to international law, namely the restoration of peace, and there is a long -term perspective for the Palestinian people. In this regard, the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are constantly acting. “
