In the European Parliament’s Economic Committee we voted for the extension of the recovery fund by 2028, ND MEP George Autia said in a statement.

As he points out, this development for Greece means a lot:

1. Of the 36 billion in the total package, we have received 21.3 billion and still remaining 14.7 billion euros, which will be disbursed by 2028.

2. The implementation of all ongoing projects will continue, a matter of Greece.

3. This decision expresses the strong position of the European Parliament to support all countries that wish to continue supporting roads, hospitals, schools, social benefits, housing and business funding.

4. Greece can easily complete the conditions for execution of the projects.

5. The decision leaves a window to extend existing projects on the basis of objective, clear and fair evaluation criteria.

6. Our country may prioritize priorities after the 2026 deadline in order to enable the completion of projects.

This decision is a guide to finance ministers, who must follow the road that the European Parliament opens. The Economic Committee sends the final text to the plenary and that to the European Union Council on the final decision, concludes Mr Ekias.
