The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to visit on Thursday Volosin order to inspect Metlen Energy & Metals’ new investments in the field of defense industry.

According to thenewspaper.gr, during his visit, he will meet with the Group’s president and chief executive, Evangelos Mytileneosin order to find out about the progress of the projects and strategic partnerships of the company.

Metlen turns Volos into a defensive industrial hub

Metlen reinforces its strategic presence in the field of defense, expanding the Volos industrial complex. Specifically, the company signed a pre -market purchase of a 19 -acre property within the First Volos Volos, with a factory facilities of 5,000 m², and is planning to buy another 8 -acre property. These areas bordered with a plot of 32 acres acquired in 2023, where a modern factory unit is already being constructed to produce high -specific metal constructions for defense applications.

The total area of ​​60 acres will specialize in the manufacture of tanks, as well as accessories, equipment and special constructions for armored military vehicles, with advanced welding and assembly technology. In its full development, the unit will consist of the plant of Nea Ionia Volos, the Service Steel in the First Volos Volos, as well as three other bands, including today’s acquisition, a total of five independent factories.

Strategic Cooperation with Iveco

Metlen recently announced strategic partnership with Italian Iveco Defense Vehicles, one of the largest military vehicles production companies. The agreement provides for the production of military vehicles with a 40% production distribution in Greece and 60% in Italy, opening new markets for Metlen, such as Italian, Romanian and Dutch.

The prime minister’s visit to Volos highlights the importance of Metlen’s investment for the Greek economy and the strengthening of the country’s defense industry.
