The start Series of port infrastructure and desalination projects in Corfu and in all the Ionian Islands, at the rhythms of AEGIS Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, During his visit to Corfu.
“The Ministry of Maritime and Island Policy with all relevant bodies will now run the competitions at the pace required by society,” the minister said, adding: “It is no coincidence that we have come here to Corfu to make these statements. 3.4 million people pass through the island in all ways: cruise, shipping, navigation, yachting and so on. We want these travelers, we want to take care of them and leave their income. But we must also take care of our islanders, whom we respect and have found all the possible ways to support them. “
As Mr Kikilias said, “all of this policy has shown that if there is will, will, stubbornness and power, in the end, one manages to help those people who, in any case, can be citizens who find it difficult in their daily lives.
It is our islanders who support them, we support them so that our islands can communicate with the mainland, move the goods and support trade and the economy. “
In terms of the Coast Guard, the minister said that “new boats will come to our islands, modern technology, the Corfu Port Authority will be digitized and all the Ionian Port Authorities and the Media, Drone, Sens, Cameras, Cameras
The Minister was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Stefanos Gikas.
Then, accompanied by the leader of the LS – ELAKT. Lieutenant Commander Tryfon Kontiza, the Commander of the 3rd Regional Administration – El. Konstantinos Korizi and the Port Authority of the Central Port Authority of Corfu, Captain LS Anastasios Schinas, visited the Port Authority where it was briefed by the Regional Governor and the Port Authority on issues related to the activity of the Region and the Port Authority and discussed with the Port Authority officials.
The minister then went for inspection on the patrol vessels of LS-ELAKT. who are docked in the port of Corfu and congratulated their crews for their constant readiness, their professionalism, their commitment to the duty, the self -denial and the zeal they display daily with the focus of protecting human life at sea and the protection of the maritime borders.
A meeting was followed by the Ionian Islands Region, where, in the presence of the Ionian Islands Regional Governor, Ioannis Trepeklis, Vice -Governors, Mayors and Vice Mayors on the island, issues and issues concerning the local community, needs and infrastructure were discussed. Mr. Kikilias completed his visit with pilgrimage to the Church of St. Spyridon.
Following are the statements of Messrs. Gika and Trepeklis.
K. Subcontractor Declaration
I would like, first of all, to thank the Chief Minister for his visit to Corfu, a particularly productive visit to a difficult day, because we had the loss of an important executive of both our local community and our Ministry, the Managing Director of OLKE.
Beyond that, in consultation with the Chief Minister and his approval, we want to make two simple announcements in the first year. The increase in the routes for the summer months to the Diapontia islands was approved, with an additional route. It is something that the deputy mayors of the Diapontian Islands were asking for, the Region was demanding, and I think this would facilitate both residents and visitors during this time. Also, the latest paper made by Zervopoulos yesterday night was the closure of the Port of the Ottoman port. With the approval of the Minister we can today say that the project will proceed normally, the request to the European Commission for its funding and we are absolutely sure that this project will be implemented very quickly.
I also wanted to say that with the Chief Minister we have designed one – and of course with the cooperation of the Region and the Municipalities – a comprehensive plan for the development of the port infrastructure of our regional unit, starting from the Diapontia islands and ending in Paxos. The decision, which has been taken – and of course you know it from statements by the main regional governor – is that with the agreement of our Ministry and with money from the Ionian Islands, it will become a modern, state -of -the -art port of Lefkimmi. This, with a new passenger station, will give a breath all over the area after the project we had launched for the past period did not prosper. Also, in the near future, I will be inaugurated – and I will invite the Chief Minister to come again – the Paxos passenger station and the new pier for the yachts there.
There is a large grid of projects that we are launching in terms of water supply – the line of the main minister is that we have to run “at AIGIS”. I recall – because some have questioned – that the Chief Minister contracted projects that reach 1 billion. So this is also the direction. So we will also run the issues of support for municipalities in terms of water we already do. We have exceeded 1.5 million from the Ministry of Maritime and Island Policy to Municipalities to support water scarcity. And we will continue.
Finally, I once again would like to thank the ‘Minister of Civil Protection and Climate Crisis’, Vasilis Kikilia, for his decision to settled and has been operating in Corfu for a year, the 15th Special Forestry Unit of Forestry. They are people who are at the forefront and with the new modernization, already launched, will be even more effective. My Minister, I would like to assure you that we are at your utmost disposition to run and help you in your vision and to increase the Coast Guard – Greek Coast Guard staff and its operational, in particular, upgrading with the new equipment program you announced.
Declaration of the Ionian Islands Regional Governor
“To thank the Chief Minister, Mr. Kikilia, and of course, our Deputy Minister and MP Corfu, Mr. Gikas. I think, in Corfu’s problems he said it all, because there was a meeting with the main mayors, where serious issues were raised. I am glad, Mr Minister, who know you hear and work with the local government, because you know. You were in this family and I think it’s a good school to succeed as a minister. And of course, I am given the opportunity to thank you for last year’s period, the excellent cooperation we had at the ministry, the positive results we had on the Ionian Islands, because really, the ministry reflexes and the airspace, whenever we called them, your services, your services, your services, and your services.
Of course, as you know very well, in these cases, luck is also needed to have an ally. We have put the Chief Minister and the Deputy Minister, with whom we work with the responsibility of the port infrastructure in our area, for us the Autosrandes and the big roads are the ports. Growth comes from there. And the development for our country, as well as the quality of life of permanent residents. Already Ports in a cooperation of port infrastructure, which will be with the responsibility of funding the Region, but also the ministry has taken initiatives, as we are at the headquarters of the region and for the port of Agios Stefanos. I heard the message today for the port of Otto. A series of interventions and maintenance. We are in a design, in a Masterplan that will concern, not only today but will also have a depth for the future. Thank you and of course a request, as you know, all the addresses in our ports is staffing in staff, because we are really a very worthy area, we have a great deal of Italy, Which wants both its surveillance and security. Thank you and good power. “
