We do not leave our ideas, nor from collective struggles » add and declare that “remaining active in the struggles for a fair, free and democratic society” expressing the belief that “They will meet again with many comrades and comrades who joined SYRIZA in the common struggle of political reconstruction.”
In detail the letter:
To
President of SYRIZA Socrates Famello
Secretary of Rania Svigu
Athens, June 11, 2025
In this letter we let us know our decision to resign from SYRIZA members – a progressive alliance.
Our decision is a product of a long political and ideological process, which began when it became apparent that the SYRIZA – progressive alliance’s venture to provoke conditions and conditions for the formation of a new progressive, political and social majority has been caused by political initiatives.
Today, we are confident that the invitation to the progressive forces, after the defeat of the 2019 national elections, has been a opportunistic construct rather than a mature and sincere, political and programmatic, long -term effect.
So we give up the moment when we feel that we can no longer defend consistently, against society, what the party is representing today, as there were other reasons why we joined it.
We estimate that today’s SYRIZA is in fact seeking to return to its original origins, canceling political planning to become a basic body of the wider progressive faction.
For our part, in 2019 we responded to the call of Alexis Tsiprasfollowing the unanimous decision of the then CC, to set up a mass, participatory and radical party, capable of expressing the needs of society.
For our part, we have come, pursuing a wide, democratic and progressive venture, which would be a place of expression of the social forces of labor, youth and culture, with basic precepts of sustainable development, the fair redistribution of wealth produced and its fair distribution. We have worked for the creation of a progressive political body capable of being an alternative political proposal against neoliberal policies and providing a government outlet in a progressive direction with a clear class sign.
Instead, we were confronted with extreme ideologies, organizational old-fashioned, vague ideological stigma, anti-kinetic rationales on the class issue, and a party mechanism that faced suspicion-or even hostility-any honest voice and revolution.
This criticism is neither conventional nor a personal one. It is deeply ideological and political. It concerns the physiognomy, principles, values and priorities chosen by the party organization.
We fought many years these years and came out of all ideological, politically and morally justified and justified. In the last battle, which we fought with a high sense of political dignity in 2024, we stood against the humiliation of the ideological principles and values of the socialist – and more so of the left – space by the then leadership team.
We reacted to the communication decline of “constructed” leaders.
We did not silence, we did not submit to any kind of transaction and, above all, we did not retreat.
We feel proud of this attitude and bring it as a political and ideological panel.
Unfortunately, however, we are back in a deadlock.
It is a fact that in recent months, a lot has changed, but without changing anything meaningful. Today’s SYRIZA-PSE still does not serve-and does not seem willing to serve in the future-the political reasons why we have been mobilized from the beginning.
It is now clear to us that any prospect of reflection and redefinition of the collective subject has been lost. It is indicative that the leaders of SYRIZA we have experienced never attempted a deeply, collective self -criticism of the mistakes of the past – not in terms of repugnant, but as a political and ideological obligation to society.
On the contrary, they chose the barren path of immobility balances.
But without self -awareness there is no new beginning with seriousness and credibility.
The leaders we experienced did not believe in democratic planning and social dialogue with the critical productive forces of our country, in terms of 21st century. Nor did they feel the need to listen to the big changes in Greek society, but also its vital daily problems.
For all these reasons, we leave SYRIZA.
We do not leave our ideas, nor from the collective struggles.
On the contrary, we lay new foundations to defend them.
We believe that there is a need – and the possibility – for a new composition of forces, for a political narrative that will re -unite progressive people to a common purpose with a clear vision and strategy.
Our criticism is not personal. We do not aim for persons, but in political responsibilities of leadership groups. In any case, we cannot pretend that there is an internal change of change – neither in the first, nor in the second plan, and of course, we cannot expect a supposed renewal with the same persons already judged and rejected by Greek society.
Our departure is an act of consistency.
We openly declare that we remain active and active in the struggles for a fair, free and democratic society.
We believe that with many comrades and comrades we have met and joined in SYRIZA PS we will meet again in the common struggle of political reconstruction and victorious course of the progressive line of our country.
