The importance of digitizing the economy and tax administration to enhance entrepreneurship and improve the daily lives of citizens, stressed the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, George Kotsiras, addressing Wednesday, June 25th, a greeting to the Dialogue Forum on the Dialogue Forum: of Justredi’s action, to promote the fair digital and green transition of the Greek regions.

Mr Kotsiras emphasized that Greece has made jumps in the digital transformation of public administration in recent years and added that the aim of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance and Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis is also to be transferred to the economy as well. The digitization of the economy and tax administration is promoted through a range of policies aimed at better service of citizens and businesses, reducing bureaucratic burdens and enhancing tax compliance.

The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance referred to, in particular, to digital tools, such as linking POS to cash registers and the Mydata system, which have contributed decisively to securing additional revenue of 2 billion euros in 2024.They will return to where they really belong to Greek society, to the productive economy“, Mr. Kotsiras emphasized.

Digitization is also at the center of the new Customs Code, which has been put into public consultation today, with the aim of modernizing provisions and procedures that are now considered “outdated”. The new Customs Code will help improve the trade environment, transparency, investment and ultimately to the country’s credibility, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance said.

With political and economic stability and institutional seriousness, investing in digitization, Greece can achieve even more and better support citizens, Mr Kotsiras said.
