Failure to remove the immunity of the 14 MPs of the ND (members of the Triantopoulos pre -trial), following the lawsuit of Maria Karystianou, including the ultimate betrayal, including the responsible Committee of Ethics. The Commission’s recommendation is based on the rationale that the Constitution explicitly states that the MP is not pursued or examined for its opinion or vote in the exercise of its duties.

In the vote, held in the closed doors, “present” was said by PASOK, SYRIZA, KKE and the new left. A Greek solution, victory and sailing freedom were in favor of removing Members’ immunity. The result of the vote, however, was not left unattended by ND MPs, who commented that the “present” by systemic parties is creating a bad precedent, as the MP’s vote cannot be criminal.

Indeed, at the end of the meeting, the chairman of the Ethics Committee George Georgantas regretted the opposition’s stance, saying that the Commission did not stand up to the protection of MPs. He argued that when they had reached similar demands in the past, his predecessors, regardless of the majorities coming and going had a clear position and attitude to protect the MP. “We did not serve this today,” Mr Georgantas said.

It is recalled that the removal of the immunity of the 14 MPs was requested after Maria Karystianou’s report (10 – 4 – 2025), for the alleged criminal offenses of the breach of duty, abuse Triantopoulos.
